Ginger Krebs leads Butoh Body for the next two Sundays (Dec 11 & 18)!
She offers: Productive Disruptions

In the workshops on December and 11th and 18th we’ll productively disrupt our habits
of speed, vision, and balance, in order to cultivate exceptional qualities of embodied movement. Movement puzzles will challenge us to take up space and direct our focus outward, while experiments with vision and slowness will help cultivate sensitivity to inner space. We’ll dial up, down, outward and inward, to find the evocative, unfamiliar “wobbly” zones where living, responsive dance happens.

Hiroko Tamano

This 1 minute excerpt gives a taste of Butoh legend Hiroko Tamano’s teaching, philosophies, and movement. In the “Dance of Life: a Prayer in 4 Directions”, Hiroko has built upon this Indigenous practice learned from Txi Wizz (Canadian Buffoon) over 40 years ago.

She has imbued it with her own movements and philosophy as a gift of healing and empowerment to an anxious world. In her words, “this dance form gives ‘presentness’,” and awareness of the directions “gives ‘no confusion’ to the prayer.”
