Thank you each and every one for your participation in SSII: Post Butoh Festival! It was an exciting and inspirational series of events. The workshops and performances were full to capacity, beyond our wildest dreams. Each and every performance was so rich, powerful, and compelling. The air was thick and hot in that Dance Studio, we bodies sweat it out together, with such focus and specific attention. This is a confirmation that it happened, in a real time and space, and that Butoh does accomplish what it might set out to do–confirm our belief in something called MA (the space between things*). We express ourselves all so uniquely, and to realize we can do it together, with compassion and empathy, can evolve into some deep transformation within us all. And thats META GOOD from our perspective.
To express in words, these feelings, is so difficult, but perhaps it needs to be addressed at this point. The performers this year have decided to dedicate some time to describe their personal his/herstories, experience, and understanding of Butoh. We wish to offer this space as a two way communication, where we can share our experiences, memories, and associations. Follow our blog to receive updates, and please do make comments and share!
*Ma is not something that is created by compositional elements; it is the thing that takes place in the imagination of the human who experiences these elements. Therefore ma can be defined as experiential place understood with emphasis on interval.
