Thank you to all those who brought and threw flowers on Saturday night ❤ A real honor to be with you at the opening of the 43 season @Dance_Center! The seeds have been planted for 2018 growing season…add water, good soil, and lets see what blooms.

Tadashi Endo’s performance was incredibly moving and heart-felt. His movements were skillful, making the difficult look graceful and easy. The audience were quiet, thoughtful, when exiting. Thank you to Tadashi Endo and all who made this evening possible.

Hiroko Tamano

This 1 minute excerpt gives a taste of Butoh legend Hiroko Tamano’s teaching, philosophies, and movement. In the “Dance of Life: a Prayer in 4 Directions”, Hiroko has built upon this Indigenous practice learned from Txi Wizz (Canadian Buffoon) over 40 years ago.

She has imbued it with her own movements and philosophy as a gift of healing and empowerment to an anxious world. In her words, “this dance form gives ‘presentness’,” and awareness of the directions “gives ‘no confusion’ to the prayer.”
