Now, we are at home. Let’s find coziness, joy, playfulness and bliss in our body. Our body is our real home, the home we hold within.
April 21 : We have a tail !!
Our tail initiates our movement and we get impulse from it.
April 22 : Body as Water bag !!
Water never moves by itself, water reacts from impulse! Water has all the qualities, it becomes soft when you swim, it might be a nice shower on the skin, sometimes a big wave pushes you or a strong water jet hits your back.
April 23 : Body as Point / Isolation Robot
Isolation based on wave. Isolation and wave sound like a contradiction. You will see today how we can make a bridge between these two phenomena:)
April 24 : images are twisted and duplicated / Picture of Francis Bacon
How is your body moving, going through a narrow door?
We will enter from daily movement into 100s of imaginary doors and rooms. Through imagination we will bring our body towards a magical world.
April 25 : Intention / Where is the blue bird?
Your intention emerges from your will! You want to drink a cup of coffee, and your body intents to do such a movement. We will start moving step by step, until reaching the dance of micro and macro cosmos
After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting.
Please try to find a quiet, spacious and isolated place for this practice, according to the space you can enjoy these days:) Make sure your microphone is MUTE, and your video is ON. Click on the SPEAKER VIEW, to have Minako in the big picture.
By joining Minako Seki Online Workshop , you declare being in a good shape and being responsible for your own safety. Please be gentle with yourself:)

With sadness, and with a terrific need to respond in some way. Not knowing words, or combinations of words for these feelings, clearly in transition, as we are.
The much planned for Butoh Between Festival for May 2020 has been cancelled. All programming at OuterSpace is also cancelled until further notice. Our international artists have stopped travel plans. We are going dark so that we may transform, to find our present in the purpose of community and survival. We will communicate as we can, and urge you to share in ways that nurture generosity and open heartedness toward every one of us.
Wishing you health & sanity during a most surreal time.
We encourage each other to support feeding and housing our local communities. To remain engaged, and responsive to each situation. To trust that our body/mind will know how to respond. To cultivate self practice, mindfulness, and respect for all beings.
“Like what we know of the virus so far, we are uncommitted to anything particular. We mutate with the times.”
PLAN AHEAD for upcoming May Butoh Situation. This is our annual push to work deeply with experienced international teachers, to absorb deeply from a fresh perspective, to come together in the dance, the feeling, the continual transformation of learning, being actively curious, and empowered problem solvers. A rare and beautiful treat! Tadashi Endo leads six days of choreographic workshops and with a final performance open to the pubic May 25-31. If you are even slightly Butoh curious, flow your juices over to OuterSpace studios on May 31 to see us perform. If you want to just dip your toe into the Butoh training, or can’t commit to the entire week, consider trying one or two classes to see what you discover.
We will focus on recovering, finding the space between things, discovering new patterns, new imaginations, new sensations, while encouraging continued growth in each of our bodies. When Tadashi Endo is teaching, he gives a deep view into Butoh philosophy and speaks to what Kazuo Ohno and Tatsumi Hijikata were thinking and where we can find inspiration for our own work. Tadashi Endo lets us search for our own Butoh.
HAUTNAH means close to the skin. The audience will sit very close, be strong and present. During the workshop, Tadashi will not rehearse exactly what your dance will be, but he will give you time and space for you to research yourself under his guidance.
